Consuelo Castiglioni was the founder and the first creative director of the Italian fashion brand Marni. Founded in 1994, the brand has become known for its original prints and collaborations with various artists

The current creative director of Marni is Francesco Risso, who joined the brand in 2016.

Risso is known for his whimsical collections that use bold patterns and silhouettes, in a wide range of colors and shapes.

In 2012, it was sold to the OTB Group and Castiglioni stepped down as a creative director.

He draws inspiration from tradition and his knowledge of the past. He pushes boundaries to bring new thoughts and ideas to life through form. One of his most iconic collections was presented at the SS20 menswear show, which highlighted the environmental crisis of plastic waste.

The Francesco Risso Spring 2023 collection for Marni was inspired by the changing light throughout the day, seen in the Italian countryside. The color palette reflects this. The collection was more streamlined and minimalist, with a theme of strong circles, including round necklines on jerseys. Risso is in no hurry to return to Milan, until the brand’s 30th anniversary in 2024. In his opinion, travel helps to burst the bubbles that the fashion industry loves to create.
