PODIUM Spring-Summer 2018

Bold experiments with shape and unusual combinations of colors, extraordinary types of cuts, and a stylish new look are the unconditional hits and the most significant trends of Spring and Summer, 2018.  You can find your inspiration in the abundance of prints, vertical-horizontal stripes, pastel colors and sports themes, and the contrast of bright colors and voluminous layers: the room for fashionable fantasies, as always, is unlimited!

School of drawing.

It would be easy and boring just to dilute the strictness of any image using variations on the theme of fine art. Fashionable and eclectic this season dictates the freedom of all combinations. Flowery motifs are presented in the Dsquared and Twin Set collections.  The total print: from animal to abstract-animated, attracted the attention of the designers of Burberry, Emporio Armani, and Salvatore Ferragamo. Creatingm created especially strong emotions with the camouflage prints of Philipp Plein creations.

A logical trend for the hot summer is absolute transparency. Moreover, the gradation of transparency ranges from a slight hint to total permissiveness. Burberry, Dsquared, Emporio Armani, Ermanno,  Scervino, and Elie Saab play with the weightlessness of fabrics in jackets and skirts, tops and shirts, and trench coats and trousers. Salvatore Ferragamo is experimenting with a perforated structure in cardigans and mini-dresses.  The designers of Moncler used transparency in luxurious skirts with ruffles painted in the colors of the French flag.

Pastel games.

Dessert shades of vanilla, marshmallow, mint, and lemon ice cream will play a vivid role in the spring-summer wardrobe. Soft and delicate colors are good both in monochrome bows (Cappellini, Fabiana Filippi, and Patrizia Pepe), and in combinations: mint with caramel-pink in Celine and Tods. A special step in the color hierarchy is assigned to the color pink. Burberry, Ermanno Scervino, Valentino, and Celine made a total-look in pink, and Emporio Armani created effective pink appliqués.

At the cellular level.

Plaid never leaves the world’s catwalks and appears before us in various interpretations: from a noticeable accent to a neutral background. The traditional Burberry print – elegant and discreet, is featured in their men’s and women’s collections; Vichy check is the main accent of dresses and skirts of the Twin Set collection.  Diagonal plaid is Celine’s choice,  “Blurred” plaid suits and graphics check transparent skirts created by Ermanno Scervino.  One can choose his level of fashion.

Classics of the genre.

A suit can be anything: classic and strict, loose cut, “baggy” fit, with asymmetric details, or completely destructured. We have every right to wear what really “clings”: the perfect suits of Caruso, Castangia and Corneliani, or the jacket with short sleeves (Emporio Armani), or creamy colors suits  (Tods). The main color of women’s collection is pearl gray: the classic  suits (Salvatore Ferragamo), a suit with tucked trousers and a scarf ( Tods),  suits with asymmetrical pleated skirts and oversized  jackets (Celine).

All the colors of the world.

An easy way to dilute the monochrome everyday life is to add color to the wardrobe. The brighter the better – say the designers. And they mix only thosecolors that evokes the emotion of admiration. Billionaire presents a most colorful palette, combining red and beige, blue and mustard, and green and white. Tods blends bright blue suits  with big red bags.  Burberry prefers mustard and green colors in their menswear collection.

Red, incidentally, is the undisputed hit of women’s collections. Emporio Armani, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Valentino paint in the “color of passion” on dresses, jackets, and free cut trousers, Twin Set lavishes attention on red accessories. Patrizia Pepe cannot think of the season without luxurious dresses in red tones.

A grammar lesson.

Logo mania never ceases to occupy the minds of designers: this spring and summer we learn to read between the lines on the T-shirts and tops of Emporio Armani, on T-shirts and sweaters of Ermanno Scervino and of Twin Set.

It does not happen much.

The art of “giving volume” is a space for designer fantasy. There are two main ways: a stylish layering that does not lose its relevance even in the hottest season (like Burberry and Dsquared) and a non-trivial approach to cut (as in the voluminous designs of trench coats and Celine suits).

He is breathing unevenly.

Asymmetric models unequivocally acquire cult status: we applaud the feminine silhouettes of dresses and tops ” off the shoulder” in the collections of Salvatore Ferragamo and Twin Set. We stand for the seductiveness of the asymmetrical Celine decollete and admire the bold designs of Rick Owens.

Brilliant output.

Glitter acquires aristocratic features, thanks to the elegance of their fabrics – satin, silk, and sparkling sequins in black. Look for the appropriate “level of radiance” from Emporio Armani and Salvatore Ferragamo. The increasing desire to sparkle uphold the luxury of Elie Saab dresses with lurex

A band of luck.

Nothing will emphasize silhouettes and proportions, like the properly selected “striped” print. It seems that the designers are not limited to trivial solutions and “twirl” the stripe in all directions. Study the vertical and horizontal bands in Valentino and Milly. Try to unravel the meaning of the abstract mixes of stripes with drawings from Emporio Armani and Fay. Remember the basics of color combinations in Celine, where the strict blue and bright yellow-green-white stripes are intermixed. And pacify this riot of colors in black and white diagonals from Self Portrait.

Sports interest.

Nothing so captivates, in the fashionable wardrobe, as the elements of a sporting lifestyle. High-tech materials and motivating slogans on training pants, hoodies, and bombers Philipp Plein – a special statement in a mix of sports and street-style.

A comfortable cut and functional fabrics, neutral tones and bright shade accents: look at Burberry and Milly collections, where the imitation of lamp-pads on trousers, skirts, and even dresses are especially attractive.
