Thanks to an article in Vogue magazine, Nicky began to receive requests from many boutiques throughout Australia. The resulting income and demand became a springboard for the launch of a small store in Darlinghurst.

Nicky received her education at The Fashion Design Studio at Ultimo TAFE that helped her to launch her own brand.
Later, her sister, Simone, who Niki called the “voice of reason,” joined the business. Simone took on the responsibility of solving business issues, allowing her sister to focus on creativity.

Sisters Nicky and Simone founded Australian fashion brand Zimmermann in 1991. Nicky was the first who started to design clothes and sold her dresses at Paddington markets of Sydney on weekends. Between the market days she was working on designing clothes in her parent’s garage.

At the beginning of their development, Zimmermann took the bold step of combining fashion with swimwear, that found a great support in the fashion world. Bold original Zimmermann prints on beautifully tailored one-piece swimsuits and bikinis set a new level in swimwear.

The fashion house received the AFI Best Swimwear Designer award.

Every year, the brand’s Resort Swim collection took a special place on the shelves in the wardrobes of Zimmermann women. The label’s expansion led to the launch of Zimmermann swimwear, kids wear, footwear, and accessories. The fashion house has showrooms in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Milan, Sydney, and Shanghai. In Australia, the brand has a network of stores, as well as an online boutique for those who like to shop without leaving home.

It’s clear at first sign – a dress or a bikini is the product of Zimmermann fashion designers. This iconic Australian label remains true to its original vision: sophisticated femininity, thoughtful color combinations, and exquisite original prints. The brand releases collections of different styles: boho, business, romantic, ethnic, but the main one is chic.

The Zimmermann girls always look at the world with a smile, they live anywhere in the world and cannot imagine their life without traveling and walking along the seashore.
