John Richardson Barrett, the owner of a leather factory in London, developed his interest in Italian shoe craftsmanship. While traveling in Italy, Barrett ordered a new pair of shoes for himself; he was struck by elegance, design and a comfort. Barrett decided to supply Italy with the best leather for this production, marking the beginning of a successful partnership.
